Molekülbau und Haftung substantiver Farbstoffe auf Cellulose

Abstract: reiner 4-Hydroxy-pyrimidin-5-carbonsaure-ithylester in schonen, farblosen Nadeln vom F p = 194 bis 195°C gewonnen wird. Gesarn, ausbeuie: 80 %. Durch Um… Show more

“…Much has been written on the apparently strange substantivity of planar conjugated systems for dyeing cellulosic fibres (see for example [18,19]) and it will not be repeated in this article. The substantivity of planar anionic polysulphonated dyes for the negatively charged substrate was established empirically and a precise explanation of the phenomenon has yet to be given.…”

“…On the other hand, Bach et al 155 have put forward evidence to show that no forces between direct dyes and cellulose are operative and dye is present in the substrate only as micelles. According to these investigators, dye penetrates cellulose in a monomolecular state, but subsequently is deprived of its water of solvation, and aggregation takes place.…”

“…It was noticed that it has a limited diffusion into the fiber insides. It is known from earlier works on substantive dyes 29 that the diffusion depends obviously on the properties of the porous zones and on the aggregation form of the dye. In the commercial product Uvitex BHT, the fluorescent dye seems to be held in a highly disperse form leading to a higher solubility than the dye calcofluor.…”
