Molecule-like structure with covalent neutrons of F isotopes toward the neutron drip line

Abstract: The α-cluster structure of F isotopes has been studied based on antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. By using the constraint on the principal quantum number, various neutron configurations are investigated. It is found that a proton excitation into an sd shell does not necessarily induce α clustering in 21 F and 23 F. However, once one or two neutrons are excited into the pf shell together with a proton excitation, the core nuclei have α clustering. The calculation is extended toward the neutron drip line. The … Show more

“…The level structure of 27 F is relevant to a variety of open questions in nuclear physics, including the transition from pure sd to mixed sd-p f neutron configurations and its associated consequences (such as the large oxygen-fluorine dripline shift of six or more neutrons [34]). Additionally, it has been suggested [3,35] that proton p-sd cross-shell excitations could play a role in the structure of low-lying 27 F excited states, possibly in tandem with sd-f p shell breaking on the neutron side. As such, it would be interesting to revisit unbound excited states in 27 F experimentally, using a direct reaction mechanism that can selectively populate specific states.…”

“…Therefore, we here discuss how the proton hole states of neutron-rich F isotopes evolve as function of neutron number [218]. Figure 30 shows the calculated partial level scheme of (a) the connected circles show the proton hole states which are classified into three rotational bands denoted by "proton hole", "σ-bond" and "σ 2 -bond".…”

“…For example, it is pointed out that the shrinking effect of α-clustering states will appear by adding a particle [8,9]. It is predicted that the shape of 29 Si is changed to be spherical by a particle, whereas the corresponding core nucleus 28 Si is oblately deformed [10].…”
