Molecularly imprinted polymer Based PVC-Membrane-Coated graphite electrode for the determination of metoprolol

Abstract: A PVC membrane based on metoprolol molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) coated directly on graphite electrode for determination of metoprolol in real sample is described. This potentiometric sensor was designed by dispersing the MIP particles in dioctylphthalate plasticizer as solvent mediator and then embedded in polyvinyl chloride matrix. The electrode exhibits a near Nernstian of 55.4±1 mV decade -1 for metoprolol over a wide concentration range between 2.0×10 -7 -8.0×10 -3 M and a detection limit of 1.26×10… Show more

“…1. Absorption peaks due to carboxyl OH stretch (ϳ3,500 cm Ϫ1 ), carbonyl group stretch (ϳ1,730 cm Ϫ1 ), C-O stretch (ϳ1,260 cm Ϫ1 ) and C-H vibrations (ϳ756, ϳ1,390, ϳ1,460, and ϳ2,956 cm Ϫ1 ) correlate well with the molecular structure of DCH18C6-MIP (Tehrani et al 2010).…”

“…The capacitive readout is based on the ionic charge-transfer occurring on the membrane in the presence of an analyte. Such coated electrodes have been used for sensing various compounds: nitrates [37], pesticides [38], antibiotics [39], and βblockers [40]. Table 1 summarizes the type of MIP, the analyte, the limit of detection (LOD), and, when available, the response time and stability of the sensors for the detection of these analytes.…”

“…To achieve suitable sensitivity for the electrochemical sensor, MWCNTs containing carboxylic functional group (f-MWCNTs) were applied on PGE electrode. Then, MIP has immobilized on the f-MWCNT surface by electropolymerization (MIP/f-MWCNT/PGE) [57][58][59][60][61][62]. Moreover, it allows to easily control the film thickness by varying the number of polymerization cycles.…”
