Molecular studies with Aedes (Stegomyia) aegypti (Linnaeus, 1762), mosquito transmitting the dengue virus

Abstract: Dengue is an infectious viral disease, which can present a wide clinical picture, ranging from oligo or asymptomatic forms, to bleeding and shock, and can progress to death. The disease problem has increased in recent years, especially in urban and suburban areas of tropical and subtropical regions. There are five dengue viruses, called serotypes (DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, DEN-4, and DEN-5), which belong to the Flaviviridae family and are transmitted to humans through infected mosquito bites, with the main vector t… Show more

“…The first Dengue fever in the literature was found about 200 years ago and in the 1940s, it was detected that the disease was a virus infection (5). Population mobility, which increased and continued during World War II and in the following period, started the spread of the virus which has continued to this day.…”

“…Its causative agent is Dengue virus from the Flavivirus family and has four different serotypes; DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4. The Aedes (Stegomyia type) is transmitted to humans through flies (5).…”

“…The identification of Aedes species and their genetic variability has also been described using molecular markers to understand population dynamics and possible implications for 10.3389/fevo.2022.999169 disease transmission (Scarpassa et al, 2008;Paupy et al, 2012;Jaimes-Duenez et al, 2015;Pereira et al, 2017). This indicates that the infection rates and the identification of vector genetic diversity are essential from the point of view of molecular epidemiology to determine the possible routes of arboviral transmission and the progressive dispersion and/or invasion of the Aedes mosquito in endemic areas (Caron et al, 2012;Paupy et al, 2012;Jimenez-Silva et al, 2018;Joyce et al, 2018).…”

“…Etkeni Flavivirus ailesinden Dengue virüsü olup, DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 ve DENV-4 olmak üzere dört farklı serotipi bulunmaktadır. İnsana bulaş Aedes (Stegomyia) türü sinekler yoluyla olmaktadır(5).…”
