Molecular mapping of a novel lesion mimic gene (lm4) associated with enhanced resistance to stripe rust in bread wheat

Abstract: Background Lesion mimics (LMs) are disease-like symptoms that occur randomly on plant green leaves in the absence of pathogens. A previous study showed that LMs are related to enhanced resistance to a broad spectrum of diverse pathogen races and programmed cell death (PCD). Stripe rust is a globally epidemic fungal disease that can substantially reduce the quality and yield of crops. The development of resistant cultivars is an economical and environmentally friendly way to enhance the adaptabi… Show more

“…Currently, there are mainly six TF families reported to be related to terpenoid metabolism in plants, including AP2/ERF, bHLH, WRKY, bZIP, MYB and NAC (NAM, ATAF1/2, and CUC2). 229 Among them, AP2/ERF, 230–232 bHLH, 202,233–235 WRKY, 227,236–238 bZIP, 239–241 and MYB 242 have been reported to mainly regulate the biosynthesis of plant triterpenoids.…”

“…To analyse differentially expressed genes (DEG) of M. sieversii in response to V. mali infection, the PacBio and Illumina transcriptome sequencing data (NCBI BioProject: PR-JNA687214) were used [27]. For the sampling of the PacBio and Illumina sequencing, barks of twigs in M. sieverisii near the canker were separately harvested at the time points of 0, 1, 2, and 5 dpi, and each sample contained three biological replicates.…”

“…To understand how M. sieversii responds to the V. mali infection at a transcriptional level, we previously sequenced transcriptome of M. sieversii in response to V. mali infection by PacBio approach [27]. The KEGG pathway enrichment analysis indicated that the plant-pathogen interaction pathway was significantly enriched by the V. mali infection (Figure S1).…”
