“…Comparison of hydrocarbon steranes and terpanes of Rewapu area. RP3,oil RP4,oil which is consistent with feature of the crude oil from middle and upper Ordovician with normal maturity in Halahatang region (Zhang et al, 2000;2002;Zhu et al, 2012c). Therefore, oil and gas in Rewapu derives from middle and upper Ordovician hydrocarbon source rock.…”

“…Disputes focus mainly on identifying the dominant source and quantifying the relative contribution from each source. Previous studies Hanson et al, 2000;Zhang et al, , 2002aZhang et al, , 2004a emphasized the contribution from the Middle-Upper Ordovician source rock; however, the huge petroleum resources present do not match the limited distribution of the Middle-Upper Ordovician source rocks (Cai et al, 2009a). Additional research (Sun et al, 2003(Sun et al, , 2004Cai et al, 2009b) argued that the Cambrian-Lower Ordovician source rocks might be the most important contributor, based on analysis of aryl isoprenoids or sulfur isotopes.…”

“…It has become the biggest palaeozoic marine oil field (Tahe-Lunnan 100 million ton oil field) as a result of large-scale explorations of 30 years in the Tarim Basin. Due to the importance of Ordovician marine source rocks in the global exploration of Paleozoic petroleum resources and the con-sideration of the actual results of the basin biomarker oilsource correlation of compounds, most geochemists believe that the Middle and Upper Ordovician source rocks are the major source rocks of marine crude oil in the Tarim Basin [14][15][16][17][18][19][20]. There are a great amount of geochemical evidences such as molecules and isotope that prove the fact that the Cambrian-Lower Ordovician source rocks had significant contributions to the Lower Paleozoic petroleum systems which have been found so far [21][22][23][24][25].…”
