“…Even though the prevalence rate was low in asymptomatic children, in both the symptomatic and asymptomatic groups of children, children under 2 years of age were found to be more susceptible to AdV-40/41 infection. Our result is consistent with the findings of epidemiological studies on enteric adenoviruses worldwide, in which adenovirus infection associated with acute gastroenteritis is reported predominantly in infants and young children (1,7,10,18,29,33,38,41).
