Molecular differentiation of Fusarium spp. with varied lifestyles based on TEF 1 alpha gene sequence analysis

Abstract: The occurrence of Fusarium in different lifestyles is quite speculative. Methods to differentiate them morphologically are extremely difficult. Molecular studies available to discriminate this species with varied lifestyles are insufficient. Herein, we investigated affiliation among endophytic, saprophytic and pathogenic Fusarium species considering TEF1 alpha gene sequences and attempted to mark out differences within different groups based on in silico proteomic analyses. The study revealed similar named Fus… Show more

“…Fusarium species are considered the third most common fungal genus after 3,4 Candida and Aspergillus. Both the pathogenic and nonpathogenic strains of Fusarium form chlamydospores [5][6][7] which enhance their survival in adverse conditions. Fusarium species are widely distributed in soil, plants water and air, this may be attributed to their ability to grow 8,, 9, 4,10-12 on a wide range of substrates.…”

“…Esse gene tem sido utilizado como um dos principais marcadores para identificação de Fusarium spp. devido ao alto grau de polimorfismo entre espécies próximas e por se tratar de uma região informativa filogeneticamente(46),(47),(48). Estados Unidos.…”
