“…The first insect trehalase gene, a soluble trehalase gene from Tenebrio molitor was reported in 1992 (Takiguchi et al, 1992), but a membrane-bound trehalase gene was not reported until 2005 (Mitsumasu et al, 2005). So far, two forms of trehalases have been found and cloned in many insect species, including Apis mellifera (Lee et al, 2007), Aphis glycines (Bansal et al, 2013), B. mori (Mitsumasu et al, 2005), O. fuscidentalis (Tatun et al, 2008), P. hypochondriaca (Parkinson et al, 2003), S. exigua (Tang et al, 2008) and S. litura (Zou et al, 2013). In this study, we successfully cloned the two types of trehalase genes in H. armigera, and the analysis of the deduced amino acid sequence demonstrated that HaTreh-1 and HaTreh-2 coded for soluble and membrane-bound trehalase, respectively.…”
