Molecular cloning, expression, and regulation of the ovalbumin gene in pigeon oviduct epithelial cells

Abstract: ABSTRACT. The full-length pigeon ovalbumin (OVA) gene cDNA was cloned and sequenced by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and rapid-amplification of cDNA ends. A 386-amino acid protein was predicted for the obtained sequence, which had 67% identity with the chicken protein. Similar to chicken OVA, the pigeon OVA gene is a non-inhibitory serine protease inhibitor. Quantitative PCR analysis revealed that pigeon OVA mRNA was highly expressed in the oviduct, and trace amounts were detected in… Show more

“…We observed very low expression of PR in the first stages studied in both TSD and E 2 SD female gonads, but at stage 27, the highest expression of this receptor in E 2 SD female gonads was observed. Incipient estrogen action could produce both the down-regulation of ERa and the stimulation of PR as in the female reproductive tract of mammals and avian species (Shao et al, 2007;Varayoud et al, 2008;Zhang et al, 2014). The same pattern of results is observed in E 2 SD females.…”

“…The tools used for this analysis included Prot Comp v. 9.0 (http://linux1. softberry.com/berry.phtml), MultiLoc2 (Zhang et al 2014), CELLO v. 2.5 (Yu et al 2006), and Euk-mPLoc 2.0 (Chou and Shen 2007). Additionally, the theoretical pI and Mr values were computed using the Expassy Compute pI/Mw tool (web.expasy.org/compute_pi/).…”
