Molecular cloning and sequence analysis of an ascidian egg β‐N‐acetylhexosaminidase with a potential role in fertilization

Abstract: ␤ -N-Acetylhexosaminidase, which is found almost ubiquitously in sperm of invertebrates and vertebrates, supposedly mediates a carbohydrate-based transient sperm-egg coat binding.
