“…Additionally, the conservation of net secretory processes between monkeys and humans for OAT3 was demonstrated in vitro and in vivo (Tahara et al, 2006), whereas the correlation of the transport activities between rat and human OAT3 was poor. The same group also reported that in terms of substrate specificity and localization in the kidney, there was minimal species difference between monkey OAT1 and OAT3, compared with human orthologs (Tahara et al, 2005).…”

“…Early Northern blot analyses have revealed that OAT1/ Oat1 transcripts are strongly expressed in human kidney as well as kidneys of monkeys, dogs, sheep, pigs, rabbits, rats, and mice (Lopez-Nieto et al, 1997;Sweet et al, 1997;Lu et al, 1999;Bahn et al, 2002;Hagos et al, 2002;Tahara et al, 2005b;Wood et al, 2005;Bleasby et al, 2006). Immunohistological studies have revealed the expression of hOAT1 and rat and mouse Oat1 at the basolateral membrane of proximal tubule kidney cells (Sekine et al, 1997;Hosoyamada et al, 1999).…”

“…4, C-H) was tested and compared in the presence of the antivirals at the same concentrations as for oat1 knock-out slices (function of the OAT3 transporter). The antivirals were tested in adult and embryonic kidneys at concentrations similar to IC 50 values gathered from the Xenopus oocyte data (Table 1 (3, 20 -26) and Table 2 (3,16,(21)(22)(23)(24)(25)). …”
