“…Discussions Among 203 suspected dogs, 162 were found to be positive for CPV infection by PCR assay, with an overall positivity rate of 79.8% in this study. Similar results were also found in our earlier studies [11,12] and other studies from other researchers in India [17,29]. Out of seventy four recent CPV strains sequenced, an overwhelming majority were characterized as CPV-2c strain (79.73%) followed by CPV-2a variant in 18.9% CPV samples and CPV-2b variant in just one sample (1.35%).…”

“…Interesting this set of CPV-2c strains were grouped away from the current Indian CPV vaccine strains. In clade II, very few recent CPV-2c strains without 370th variation were grouped along with recent CPV-2a/ 2b, repository isolates (CPV-2a/2b variant) as well as with the Chinese CPV-2a variants which were in agreement with the earlier ndings [18,29]. Some Recent CPV-2c strains without 324th variation (with prototype Tyr324) were formed a separate clade (clade III) with the prototype CPV-2c strain and vaccine strains.…”
