Abstract: Theileria equi (T. equi) is an obligate intra-and extraerythrocytic parasite that causes equine theileriosis (ET) in equids. Equine theileriosis is considered a notifiable disease of global significance, a major constraint to the international movement of horses, and endemic in many countries.
