Molecular Biological Methods in Environmental Engineering

Abstract: Microorganisms can respond fast to the environmental changes, and well suited for environmental assessment. DNA and RNA are generally extracted by extraction kits. After extraction, molecular biological methods including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics are applied to characterize the genetic and functional diversity of microorganisms. Quantitative PCR, FISH and mass sequence of amplicons are also described. This review provides environmental engineers and microbiologists an overview of i… Show more

“…Therefore, laborious efforts are needed to make the degradation process effective, faster, quite efficient, and more suitable to act on a wide variety of organic and inorganic pollutants ( Kumar Awasthi et al, 2020 ). By using molecular techniques to protect the environment, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics plays a significant role in microbial habitats ( Li et al, 2017 ).…”

“…En una reacción típica de PCR se usan dos primers que flanquean la región de ADN que se desea amplificar. Es una técnica que posee múltiples aplicaciones y por ende existen diferentes tipos de PCR (Griffin y Griffin, 1993;Li et al, 2017).…”
