Molecular and functional ecology of aquatic microbial symbionts

Abstract: Traditional aquatic microbial ecology has largely neglected organism-associated microorganisms in biodiversity and ecosystem function studies. Living aquatic organisms provide habitats for a wide variety of microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi, algae, and protozoans.
