Abstract

An encapsulation mechanism, the module, for specifying abstract data types is described.The module employs a constructive specification method for specifying abstract data types. The constructive method consists of two specifications: a logical structure specification and a semantics of operations specification.The specification and implementation of a nontrivial data type, a symbokable data type, is given and proof of implementation correctness is discussed and illustrated.
