Modulation of apoptosis of mononuclear cells under conditions of oxidative stress

Abstract: We studied mitochondrial and type 1 tumor necrosis factor-a receptor (TNFR1)-mediated pathways triggering the apoptotic program in mononuclear cells under conditions of oxidative stress. Intensification of intracellular production of reactive oxygen forms is accompanied by an increase in the number of annexin-positive TNFRI-presenting cells and mononuclear cells with reduced mitochondrial transmembrane potential in case of induction of oxidative stress with 1 mM H2O2 in vitro and in patients with pneumonia.

“…Oxidative stress causes programmed cell death or apoptosis in several pathological processes (10,55). High concentrations of ROS initiate necrotic or apoptotic cell death (56). Based on studies of various cell types, it is increasingly clear that NAC has growth-promoting activities (10).…”

“…Most of them focus on autoimmune processes in the parenchyma of the gland and on the parenchymal volume loss [9][10][11]. Other pathogenic factors of hypothyroidism during resection operations remain little known, so do the mechanisms of nodule formation [12][13][14].…”
