Modulating spin dynamics of LnIII-radical complexes by using different coligands

Abstract: Six LnIII-triazole-radical complexes have been synthesized by using different β-diketonate coligand. They exhibit interesting magnetic properties. 3 and 5 show magnetic slow relaxation resembling SMM behavior.

“…In addition, the nonsuperposition properties on the M versus H/T curves at 2, 3, and 5 K temperatures show the existence of magnetic anisotropy and/ or low-lying excited states in the Tb 3 system (Figure S5b). 22 What is more, the curve of M versus H exhibits a very narrow hysteresis (Figure S6).…”

“…In addition, organic chemicals that contain triazole cycles have largely been used as bridging ligands, which leads to metal–organic complexes exhibiting interesting magnetic properties. , Special attention has been paid to functionalized NITRs that contain a triazole ring because these free radicals can bond to the metal ions with not only the triazole nitrogen atoms but also the radical oxygen atoms, which may cause the formation of polynuclear clusters . Now, a triazole NITR named 4-Me-3-NITtrz, which is very like 5-Me-3-NITtrz in our previous work only with the methyl group in a different position, has aroused our attention. An unprecedented trinuclear cyclic Tb III -radical cluster, [Tb 3 (hfac) 6 (4-Me-3-NITtrz) 2 (OH) 3 ] ( 1 ; hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetone and 4-Me-3-NITtrz = 2-[3-(4-methyl-l,2,4-triazolyl)]-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide), has been self-assembled from Tb(hfac) 3 ·2H 2 O and 4-Me-3-NITtrz, which exhibit slow magnetic relaxation behaviors.…”
