Different mineral processing and acid leaching methods have been used to reduce the iron content of china clay by removal of iron-rich minerals, including size separation with hydrocyclones, high-intensity magnetic separation and flotation methods (Grim, 1968;Zhengnan & Veasey, 1988;Maurya & Dixit 1990;Basilio et al, 2000;Raghavan et al, 2004;Chandrasekhar & Ramaswamy, 2006). If the coloured impurities are not fully liberated from the clay particles, either because they are firmly adsorbed or are present in complex forms (Lee et al, 2002), removal by physical processing technologies is extremely difficult and chemical methods are being employed.…”
