Modified Differential Evolution Algorithm: A Novel Approach to Optimize the Operation of Hydrothermal Power Systems while Considering the Different Constraints and Valve Point Loading Effects

Abstract: This paper proposes an efficient and new modified differential evolution algorithm (ENMDE) for solving two short-term hydrothermal scheduling (STHTS) problems. The first is to take the available water constraint into account, and the second is to consider the reservoir volume constraints. The proposed method in this paper is a new, improved version of the conventional differential evolution (CDE) method to enhance solution quality and shorten the maximum number of iterations based on two new modifications. The… Show more

“…The power produced by several heat recovery and renewable technologies are generally on a small scale and variable. Investigations are also being conducted to utilize the harvested power by using smart and efficient grid and electrical distribution systems which can reduce the power loss at the consumer end [10,11].…”

“…This section will present how the SOS programming technique can be utilized for the LF construction and ROA estimation of the GSS analysis. The developed SOS program will be implemented in SOSTOOLs (Prajna et al, 2002), which is a toolbox for MATLAB and works as the interface and interpreter for translating formulated SOS problems into semidefinite programs (SDP), where the latter can be solved by various SDP solvers (Lieven and Boyd, 1996). To better illustrate this method applied to the GSS analysis, Lyapunov stability and its SOS program will be introduced first in a generic sense.…”

“…In our paper, there are only 22 data columns for each industry. For this reason, after considering other methods for uncertain qualitative systems [57,58], we decided to adopt the GM (1, 1) model. The software environment in which we use this approach is the Data Processing System.…”
