Modified Clad Optical Fibre Coated With PVA/TiO2 Nano Composite For Humidity Sensing Application

Abstract: Synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticle through hydrolysis method is presented followed by TiO2nanoparticle doped polyvinyl alcohol nanocomposite by solution process. FTIR, XRD, DSC-TGA, FESEM, TEM analysis are used to identify the nature of synthesized nanoparticle and loading uniformity of developed composite material. A simple modified clad based optical fibre sensor is developed to measure relative humidity. Coated modified clad optical fibre exhibits excellent relative humidity sensing performance with improved th… Show more

“…The second decomposition peak of the PL is shown at 354 °C, which corresponds to decomposition of primary structure of lignin. The third decomposition peak of the PL shown at 421 °C is due to decomposition of PVA back born structure . The dehydration peak is increased to 126 °C by increasing the MA content to 40 wt%.…”

“…Figure shows TGA and DTG curves of the EPL resins with different MA content. On the TGA curve of the PL resin (0 wt% MA) shown in Figure (a), the first weight loss is observed from 70 °C, which corresponds to dehydration and elimination of water molecules from intermolecular hydrogen bond between lignin and PVA and intramolecular hydrogen bond of lignin . The initial temperature of the first decomposition increases as increasing the MA content from 0 to 40 wt%.…”

“…The weak peak around 1650 cm À1 is associated with the deformation vibration of H-O-H bonds which results due to the fact the spectra were recorded in situ and re-desorption of water from the atmosphere is possible. [26][27][28] The peak centred around 550 cm À1 is due to the stretching vibration of Ti-O bond. The peaks around 1450 cm À1 are a result of Ti-O-Ti stretching vibrations.…”
