Modern NMR Pulse Sequences in Pharmaceutical R&D

Abstract: NMR pulse sequences are surveyed for solution-state methods that serve as typical, robust techniques in pharmaceutical or chemical NMR laboratories. Attention is drawn to up-to-date methods capable of enhancing sensitivity, resolution and information content. Sequences range from those used for pulse calibration and field homogeneity adjustment, through oneand two-dimensional homo-and hetero-nuclear methods for solution phase work. Techniques used for editing, resolving and simplifying data are highlighted and… Show more

“…Analysis of NMR data was done using SPARKY software. [ 26 ] Based on the intensity of the NOE cross peaks (the highest intensity observed with geminal protons was used as strong, and relatively other intensities were classified [ 27 ] ), strong, medium, and weak were assigned and then converted these intensities into distances based on the literature (strong, −1.9 to 2.7 Å; medium 1.9–3.3 Å; and weak 1.9–5 Å). [ 28 ] However, in peptides and proteins, the distance between inter and intraresidue are limited to certain distances depending on the secondary structure.…”

“…Some 'refugees' engage in 'smuggling [as] the only way [that] they can afford to eat' (according to Syrian archaeologist Cheikhmous Ali, paraphrased by Elger 2014). Some, who may or may not be in equally dire straits, also 'try to sell small items' for little money in Turkey (according to antiquities dealer Harun Unvar, cited by Parkinson, Albayrak and Mavin 2015).…”
