The metallurgy quality of the steel was improved greatly by calcium treatment which was a technique developed for a long time. The Mn steels treated with calcium, carbon-manganese steels and nickel-chromium steels were collected and their corrosion behaviors were investigated. The results showed that the corrosion resistance of the Mn steel is lower than that of the Ni-Cr steel. The shape of the inclusions can be modified and quality of the steels can be enhanced by the calcium treatment, and the corrosion resistance of the steel treated with calcium is higher than that of the common carbon-Mn steel, and near to that of the NiCr steel.

Post combustion in the top space of iron bath smelting reduction furnaces is analysed with three-dimensional mathematical modelling. Momentum transport and continuity equations in combination with a k-e model of turbulence are numerically solved for the gas flow field. Combustion reactions are modelled by a set of transport equations based on the SCAS combustion model and its extension to the k-f-g model. A two-stage combustion scheme is formulated to include carbon transfer and combustion. Heat transfer to bath and droplets is approximated including radiation. Computation results for rectangular reactors are presented with velocity patterns and combustion fields. The complex shapes of post combustion flames are demonstrated. Process parameters are varied to study their influence on combustion and heat transfer to the bath. Effects of the injection geometry are illustrated. MathematischesModell fUr die Nachverbrennung bei der Schmelzreduktion. Die Nachverbrennung in der Gaszone von Eisenbadreaktoren wird mit einem dreidimensionalen mathematischem Modell untersucht. Impulstransport-und Kontinuitatsgleichungen werden in Kombination mit einem k-f-Modell fOr die Turbulenz numerisch gelost, woraus die Stromungsfelder in der Gasphase erhalten werden. Verbrennungsreaktionen werden mit Hilfe von Transportgleichungen beschrieben, die auf dem SCRS-Verbrennungsmodell und seiner Erweiterung zum k-f-g-Modell basieren. Ein zweistufiges Verbrennungsschema zur Behandlung des Transports von Kohlenstoff und seiner Verbrennung wird vorgestellt. Das Modell erfaBt Warmestrahlung sowie Warmetransport an Trapfen und Bad. Aechenergebnisse fOr Geschwindigkeits-und Verbrennungsfelder werden fOr rechteckige Reaktoren dargestellt. Die komplizierten Geometrien der auftretenden Nachverbrennungsflammen sind erkennbar. AnschlieBend werden ProzeBparameter variiert und der EinfluB der Einblasgeometrie dargestellt.
