Models for Type VI Adsorption Isotherms from a Statistical Mechanical Formulation

Abstract: In this study, two theoretical expressions for the Type VI isotherm in the IUPAC classification are presented. The formulation of these new expressions is based on a rigorous statistical mechanical description. The expressions allow for the estimation of physicochemical parameters within the theoretical model. The proposed models allow a good correlation to Type VI experimental isotherms taken from the literature such as adsorption isotherms for adsorption of methane onto MgO (100) and onto an exfoliated graph… Show more

“…Notably, in Figure 6C, the CV curve of the 5 wt% Y‐rGO shows the largest closed area compared to the 3 and 10 wt% Y‐rGO composite and pristine Y 2 O 3 NPs suggesting better electrochemical property in the potential window of −0.6 to 0.8 V. The high charge transfer may be due to the good reversible faradaic processes induced by the storage of charges by Y 2 O 3 NPs within the two‐dimensional spacing of rGO sheets and facilitates sufficient redox reactions. Further, the symmetrical redox peaks found reveal the good reversible faradaic processes 36,37 . However, other Y‐rGO systems show regular shapes with a small redox area, also indicate the capacitance nature of Y‐rGO composites with the less efficient charge transfer process.…”

The quasi rectangular CV curves obtained while increasing the scan rate and the deformation in the CV are attributed to a conjunction influence of electric double-layer (hybrid) capacitances.…”

“…The previous studies were focused on the characterization of adsorption based on the type of isotherm. Some researchers defined separate mathematical models for each isotherm type (Yahia et al, 2013 ). However, many of the studies focused on the generalization of similar types of isotherms (Khalfaoui et al, 2003 ; Chakraborty and Sun, 2014 ).…”
