Models for Optimization of Supply Chain Network Design Integrating the Cost of Quality: A Literature Review

Abstract: After focusing on Cost of Quality (CoQ), the companies must now move into integrating the CoQ into Supply Chain upstream and downstream, to address CoQ issues across Supply Chain Network Design (SCND) modeling. In this preliminary study, we propose a state of the art of the published works on models and classifications of SCND incorporating the CoQ existing in the literature. In the second part of this paper, we will present a review by studying and analyzing the application of some meta-heuristics to solve su… Show more

“…Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform. It corresponds to deviations in the time domain from perfect periodicity [8] [10] [11]. This RF degradation is materialized by the "Phase noise" block and its particular choices are [5]:  Negligible (−100 dBc/Hz @ 100 Hz)-Almost no phase noise.…”

“…After many individual companies considered the COQ in their cost accounting systems, it is necessary for the companies to coordinate and integrate the COQ into SC entities, which will assist addressing the COQ elements allover supply chain network design (SCND) (Douiri et al , 2016). Srivastava (2008) is the first author who combined, measured and estimated COQ in SC performance measurement.…”

“…COQ studies have so far focused on internal quality costs of individual firms but not on the costs of an entire SC (Srivastava, 2008). There are not enough references which analyze and develop of SCND incorporating the COQ, the majority of contributions are directed toward assisting companies to improve their quality and profitability at the same time (Douiri et al , 2016). COQ combines poor quality, quality enhancement efforts and hidden quality costs, and translates them into understandable monetary terms for all stakeholders of the organization Castillo-Villar et al (2012).…”

“…Quality cost measurement is the first step of quality cost management. Several researchers have proposed various methods to measure the cost of quality (COQ), which includes prevention, appraisal, internal failure, and external failure costs [4]. The Activity-Based Costing (ABC) approach has been widely used in measuring COQ [5-9] because many COQ elements are activity-related costs [9].…”
