On-time deliveries are considered a strategic factor for the market positioning of companies. Such is the case of the company under study where only 76.5% of orders arrive on time, compared to 90.2% of companies in the same sector in Colombia. The causes of the problem are an inadequate management of the raw material warehouse processes, causes such as the lack of organization of the physical space that lengthen the preparation of orders, inefficient inventory control processes at the entrance and inside the warehouse and inadequate handling. These have caused losses of raw materials due to pyrolysis, shortages, and delays in production and therefore the rescheduling of the delivery date of orders. In order to improve these processes, we implemented the 5S and a redesign of the warehouse, simple sampling, ABC analysis, cyclic counting and EOQ model. As a result, an increase in orders delivered on time of 12.53%

La investigación se centra en explorar el impacto de las metodologías ABC y las 5S en la gestión de inventarios, abordando un marco conceptual que destaca los problemas inherentes al proceso. El objetivo principal fue analizar los beneficios de implementar ABC y 5S, subrayando su importancia para las empresas. La pregunta de investigación se enfocó en identificar los principales beneficios de estas herramientas en la gestión de inventarios. En cuanto a la metodología, se empleó la metodología PRISMA para la revisión de literatura, identificando diversos artículos científicos relacionados con el tema. Se seleccionaron y analizaron cuidadosamente aquellos que contribuyeron de manera significativa el desarrollo del trabajo. Los resultados revelaron que la implementación del modelo ABC ofrece beneficios sustanciales, destacando la clasificación y priorización de inventarios para mejorar los niveles de existencias. Por otro lado, las 5S proporcionan beneficios focalizados en la reducción del tiempo de búsqueda de bienes y la minimización del riesgo de inventario obsoleto, promoviendo una mayor productividad. En conclusión, la aplicación de las metodologías ABC y 5S en la gestión de inventarios emerge como una estrategia efectiva, ofreciendo beneficios significativos para las empresas. La eficiente clasificación de inventarios y la optimización de procesos mediante las 5S contribuyen a mejorar la productividad y a mitigar riesgos asociados a la gestión de inventarios. Este estudio subraya la importancia de considerar estas metodologías como herramientas clave en la gestión empresarial orientada a la eficiencia y la optimización de recursos.

This case study addresses the problem of stock-outs and purchase planning, which represent the greatest impact on the economic loss for the company studied. For the analysis of the problem and the proposal approach, a focus was made on the main products sold, the Value Stream Mapping tool was used for the process analysis and the analysis of the main causes by means of Pareto diagrams and the Systematic Interrogation Technique. The implementation of the 5S methodology is proposed hand in hand with the Visual Management to have a better control of the stock and improve the workflow, in addition, the purchase planning is proposed from the application of the DDMRP tool with the objective of being able to meet the demand and have lower losses due to expiration of products. Finally, through the application and simulation of the proposed tools, an average reduction of 28.3% in warehouse ordering times and 25% in order preparation times is evidenced, likewise the DDMRP tool shows a reduction of stock breakage, managing to cover 100% of the demand.
