Abstract:In the past few decades, several coefficients of uniformity were developed to express the uniformity of water distribution for different sprinkler irrigation systems. Christiansen's uniformity coefficient seems to be the most popular uniformity coefficient used by researchers on the global scale. However, more coefficients have also been proposed by other researchers. Therefore, this study focused on evaluating different uniformity coefficients proposed and on investigating the effects of field conditions on the results obtained by means of those coefficients. In doing so, sprinkler uniformity tests were conducted by using rain-gauge in order to measure the uniformity coefficients of ten fields irrigated by solid set sprinkler irrigation systems in Dehgolan Plain located in the Kurdistan Province, northwest of Iran. All fields selected differed in prevailing conditions such as the wind speed, size and type of nozzle, raiser height, operating pressure and sprinklers spacing. The coefficient of uniformity for each field was computed using the equations proposed by Christiansen (1942), Hawaiian Cane Society Specialists Hart and Reynolds (1965), Wilcox and Swailes (1947), Karmeli (1978), Criddle et al. (1956), Benami and Hore (1964), and Beale (1966). Data analysis was performed using the general linear model procedure of Statistical Analysis System Software. The results indicated that should not the field effect be considered in the statistical model, significant differences (p < 0.05) would be observed between the aforesaid coefficients; however, by considering the field effect in the statistical model, no significant differences (p > 0.05) would be observed. The results of this study conclusively indicated that the application of various coefficients of uniformity depends on the field conditions and as any specific coefficient of uniformity is suitable only for specific field conditions.

RESUMO:O estudo foi realizado por meio de simulações, inseridas em seis cenários de níveis de uniformidade de aplicação de água, nas condições de Cristalina-GO, com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito da aplicação de diferentes lâminas de irrigação na produtividade comercial da cultura do feijão (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cv. Carioca. Para tanto, utilizou-se o sistema de irrigação por aspersão convencional, mediante dados de produtividade obtidos por intermédio da função de produtividade desenvolvida para as condições locais. Os resultados obtidos permitiram concluir que a maior produtividade de grãos (2.946,52 kg ha -1 ) foi obtida com o maior coeficiente de uniformidade de aplicação da água do sistema de irrigação por aspersão (90%), que resultou no menor valor de lâmina média coletada (418,16 mm) no ciclo da cultura. Ainda foi possível observar que o modelo e o método adotados se mostraram adequados para gerar cenários de produtividade do feijoeiro para as condições locais do presente estudo. ESTIMATED PRODUCTION OF BEAN CROP IRRIGATED IN CRISTALINA-GO UNDER DIFFERENT DEPTHS AND UNIFORMITY OF APPLICATION ABSTRACT:The study was carried out with simulations for six scenarios of water application uniformity levels under the conditions of Cristalina-GO (Brazil), in order to evaluate the effect of different irrigation levels in the commercial yield of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cv. Carioca. For this it was used the conventional sprinkler irrigation system, using productivity data obtained with the production function developed for local conditions. The results showed that the highest grain yield (2,946.52 kg ha -1 ) was obtained with the highest coefficient of water application uniformity in sprinkler irrigation system (90%) which resulted in the lowest average depth collected (418.16 mm) in the crop cycle. It was even observed that the model and the method adopted proved to be adequate to generate scenarios of bean yield to local conditions of the present study.

Abstract:In common with the majority of crop species, in sugar beet nutrition nitrogen is an important element due to its role in sucrose utilization and plant growth. Application of precision agriculture, in order to apply the right amount of input at the right time in the right area, is appropriate to decrease chemical use and increase plant growth. Problem statement: More often farmers apply fertilizers with low efficiency, low uniformity and high price such as spinner spreader, boom spreader or application with planting machines simultaneously. Fertigation can reduce labor cost and may improve uniformity, effectiveness and timeliness of application. Approach: The main objective of this study was to determine spatial variability of sugar beet performance affected by urea fertigation as well as established a management strategy based on spatial variability of tubers and soil total N. This study was conducted in Fesaran village, Isfahan Province of Iran and limited to sugar beet (monogerm seed). Urea applied through sprinklers. Soil samples were taken to determine soil total N as well as sugar beet tubers samples to specify yield. Results of soil and crop analysis were used to produce spatial variability maps through GS + and ArcGIS 9.2 software. Semivariogram results were used to perform an ordinary kriging to obtain interpolated values of selected variables from the sample points through and across the study area. Results: It was found that there was a low spatial variability of soil total N and yield which indicates that the soil has a homogenous total N as well as homogenous yield through and across the field. Yield variability map of sugar beet properties demonstrated that the higher yield was seen in the southern part of the study area where laterals were closer to pump. Conclusion: The results of urea fertigation through sprinklers showed pipeline layout and pump station position impact on variability of sugar beet properties.
