Abstract:A hyperelasticity modelling approach is employed for capturing various and complex mechanical behaviours exhibited by macroscopically isotropic polydomain liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs). These include the highly non-linear behaviour of nematic-genesis polydomain LCEs, and the soft elasticity plateau in isotropic-genesis polydomain LCEs, under finite multimodal deformations (uniaxial and pure shear) using in-house synthesised acrylate-based LCE samples. Examples of application to capturing continuous softenin… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
