At low liquid jet velocity (u j ), bubble vortices do not appear and the bubble size distribution (BSD) shows a bimodal distribution. The number density function of large bubbles and small bubbles in the bottom section is higher and lower than that in the middle and top regions, respectively. At high u j , the bubble vortices appear and the BSD is a unimodal distribution. Below the nozzle outlet, the bubbles in the reactor center move from upward to downward, with the axial height increasing, and the position of the maximum bubble rise velocity appears near both walls of the reactor. As u j increases, the bubble downward and upward velocities increase, and the position corresponding to the maximum bubble rise velocity moves toward the walls. Above the nozzle outlet, the rise velocity of the bubble is larger in the center than that at the walls and increases with u j .
