Modelling of Hard Coal Beneficiation Process Utilising Negative Pressure Pneumatic Separator

Abstract: The dry separation methods for coal beneficiation have been regaining attention in the past decades. A number of improved or newly designed devices have been developed—one of them is a negative pressure pneumatic separator (NPPS). The said method of separation is based on the differences in the physical properties between coal and gangue minerals, such as the grain density, size, and shape. The aim of the hereby presented work was to develop working models describing the operation of the NPPS. To validate the … Show more

“…However, wet processes consume large amount of water that are difficult for dry areas with limited water supply as well as the cold areas that are the temperature below the freezing point of water. Considering these problems as well as systems control, the application of dry-type coal beneficiation methods, such as fluidized bed, air jig, air table, and negative pressures pneumatic separator (NPPS) [ 167 ] have been developed [ 168 ]. It was also applied to separate coal from near gravity materials (NGM) [ 169 ] as well as heavy metal like mercury (Hg) [ 170 , 171 ] and arsenic (As) [ 168 ].…”

“…Sta ńczyk [10] set forth results of research in development of coal beneficiation equipmentnegative pressure pneumatic separator, used for dry separation based on the distinctions in physical properties of coal and host rock. The author presented working models of negative pressure pneumatic separator operations and validated them by calculations, which outcomes were compared with experimental results of another studies.…”

“…The character of operating of mines poses many challenges and barriers in this respect such as limitations resulting from the geology itself, natural hazards, mobility of devices, telecommunications limitations and many others [26,28]. Acquiring real-time data from systems, their common processing, interpretation and control of the entire process are necessary, even critical, conditions to ensure the safety of the crew and the optimal use of the property, energy and other means of production [14,16,19,20,31]. Operating monitoring systems are responsible for the safety of people working underground.…”
