Modelling and industrial application of series hybrid active power filter

Abstract: In the series hybrid active power filter (SHAPF) based on fundamental magnetic flux compensation (FMFC), the harmonic voltage across the magnetising inductance of the series transformer will disturb the inverter output current and worsen the filtering effect of the SHAPF. However, this influence caused by harmonic voltage was ignored in the previous research. Therefore there is blindness and casualness in the parameter selection of the SHAPF based on FMFC. Taking a 10 kV, 1 MVA industrial application of the SH… Show more

“…The compensation of current harmonics arising because of high-power rectifiers is presented and analyzed [16]. A mathematical representation of the Series Hybrid Active Power Filter is established in [17] to improve the filtering capacity. A new control algorithm for a Series Hybrid Active Power Filter (SHAPF) based on the generalized instantaneous power theory is proposed by [18].…”

“…Various passive filters are introduced in [18,20,21] to overcome the harmonics issues in converters, but due to its system parameters, the performance is limited and may cause a resonance problem [22]. A compensator based on an electronics converter known as series active power filter (APF) converter is studied in the literature [23][24][25] to tackle the limit imposed by the high harmonics. Moreover, a converter based compensator in the existing research needs improvement in a supply system for the electrified traction system.…”
