Modeling the Meshing Procedure of the External Gear Fuel Pump Using a CFD Tool

Abstract: In modern aircraft engine technology, there is a tendency to replace the mechanical drive of external gear fuel pumps with an electric one. This significantly reduces the integral energy consumption for pumping fuel (kerosene). On the other hand, in order to reduce the dimensions of the structure, it is reasonable to increase the rotation speed of the pumping unit gears. The above considerations make it advisable to study the problems that may arise in the design of pumping units. Analysis of the existing desi… Show more

“…In the second series of experiments (9-16), n = const, µ = var, Ps = const, and Pp = const. In the third series of experiments (17)(18)(19)(20)(21)(22)(23)(24), n = const, µ = const, Ps = var, and Pp =var. As an assumption, it was assumed that the structure is airtight and that there are no gaps or narrow slots in the design domain.…”

“…as is shown in Figures 1 and 6. Through the tapholes under hoods #1 and #4, the flow rate of the dust-gas mixture with a full cross section is set at a velocity of 7 m/s and a value of 280,000 m 3 /h according to the "Recommendations for the design of aspiration systems for capturing and cleaning dust and gas emissions from casting yards of blast furnaces with a volume of 2700-5500 m 3 " [17].…”
