Modeling the influence of the river on the wind pattern of Krasnoyarsk

Abstract: The article analyzes the environmental situation in the city of Krasnoyarsk based on data of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Ecology and Environmental Management of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The influence of the non-freezing Yenisei River on the movement of air masses over the city is considered based on numerical simulation. The obtained results demonstrate the ability to quickly simulate the wind pattern of the city, taking into account the heterogeneous nature of the terrain, heat tra… Show more

“…Atmosphere 2020, 11 Several studies were devoted to the Krasnoyarsk's air problems [22,23], and some of them pointed out the disadvantages of the applied methodological approaches based on the GLAPM Several studies were devoted to the Krasnoyarsk's air problems [22,23], and some of them pointed out the disadvantages of the applied methodological approaches based on the GLAPM [24]. The problem of the Yenisei River, which is ice-free during the winter seasons and impacts on the wind flows, was also highlighted using the CFD modeling in [25].…”

“…Currently, to address this class of problems, the research team of the Siberian Federal University together with the Kutateladze Institute of Thermophysics SB RAS have developed the «SigmaEco» software module based on previously developed «SigmaFlow» software package [15]. «SigmaEco» software module allows calculating multicomponent unsteady turbulent flows with dispersed phase considering heat transfer in an urban environment.…”
