Residents satisfaction of students depends on quality residential facilities, quiet study environment and positive roommate relationships. For this purpose, the present study aims to analyze determinants of residents satisfaction with hostel facilities by using a convenience sampling to collect 500 residents of public and private hostels from a metropolitan city of Pakistan i.e. Faisalabad. The logistic regression model was employed to estimate the impact of hostel facilities on resident satisfaction. The Results infer that different facilities; mess, kitchen, washroom, electricity, water supply, cleanliness, staff, security, accommodation, and bedroom, have a significant impact on the residents satisfaction. However, a non-significant level of certain variables exposed that these variables are not playing an important role in the resident's satisfaction, so the hostel administration does not need to spend money and time to provide these facilities for hostel residents. The present study results implied that the management should focus on those factors where the residents are assigning positive values to increase resident satisfaction. It will have a significant impact on the revenue streams of the hostel business.

The authors have carried out a study to determine and evaluate the impact of the factors affecting students' decisions to continue renting accommodation in Thu Duc District. The research model is built on Maslow's theory of demand hierarchy, Mankiw's theory of choice in consumption, Le Bon's theory of crowd psychology, Hoang Huu Phe and Wakely's theory of position and quality. The study is conducted through 2 phases: Qualitative research and quantitative research with the answer sheets of 668 students. Preliminary research results with responses from 30 students conducted by the direct interview method show that all students agree 7 factors are affecting the decision to continue renting. The primary research was performed with answer sheets of 668 students, all valid votes were filtered, coded, and then analyzed for the reliability of Cronbach's Alpha, EFA method, Logit analysis method, correct forecast rate of the Logit model, Logit model defect test, and Logit model conformity test. Logit's analysis results show that there are 4 factors affecting the decision to continue renting, including (1) Social relations, (2) Facilities, (3) Environment, (4) Price. The results show the needs and concerns of students in Thu Duc District when making the decision to continue renting, through which the authors give recommendations to improve the quality of accommodation for homeowners and student awareness.

Students’ Housing in Private Universities in Nigeria: Influencing Factors and Effect on Academic Performance

Student housing plays an essential role in the attainment of quality education. However, there has been significant evidence as regards the inadequacy of this essential facility among public universities in Nigeria. It was further observed that there is a paucity of information as regards this situation within the private institutions in the country. Based on this background this research was conducted to assess the students’ housing in private institutions, by determining the factors influencing students’ choice of residence and its effect on their academic performance. The study adopted a survey approach, with 216 students sampled through a structured questionnaire. Data gathered were analyzed using frequency, mean item score, and Mann-Whitney U-Test. Results revealed that although gender has no relationship with students’ choice of residence, age and academic level does. The major factors influencing students’ choice of residence are: accommodation fee, quality of the environment, need for privacy, influence of friends/desire to be close to friends, and number of students within the building. The study also revealed that students’ on-campus rarely miss classes due to distance of their residence from their lecture halls, unlike their mates staying off-campus. However, they tend to miss classes as a result of inadequacy of needed facilities; a situation that is uncommon among those staying off-campus. As regards students Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) as a measure of their performance, the residence of students does not have any statistical relationship with their academic grades.
