Modeling of history‐dependent magnetization in the finite element method on the example of a postassembly rotor magnetizer

Abstract: Demagnetization characteristics of permanent magnets play a central role for the design and optimization process of permanent magnet electrical machines and magnetic actuators. Currently, practical issues, such as loss of performance of electromagnetic energy conversion devices, due to demagnetization effects in permanent magnets or due to reduced servo‐dynamics in magnetic actuators, cannot be addressed by using conventional material models or are investigated by using rough approximations valid in restricted… Show more

“…The model has also been adopted in several phenomenological models of hysteresis [84,304,[310][311][312][313], in a similar way as the Langevin function. It has also been applied to model lamination steel [188,189,[314][315][316], and has been generalized with exponential functions [317].…”

“…This could also be a drawback, because these functions never actually reach these extrema, and the curves could only reach saturation at infinity. Including coercivity, it is written as [311,313]:…”

“…Approaches are also encountered where synchronous machine designers attempt to select PMs in a way to achieve immunity against demagnetisation, for example, when an ITSC occurs. Authors of [202], [203], [204] performed an analysis of the effect of demagnetization on FEM model where they proposed selection of the PMs. The article [206] proposes a method affecting the anti-demagnetization ability of PMs.…”

“…4 The second major topic treats the numerical modelling of the electromagnetic behaviour of electric and magnetic materials, with contributions on the modelling of magnetoelectric composites 5 and magnetic hysteresis. 6,7 The third major topic concerns homogenization and reduced order models, with contributions to the time-domain homogenization of windings, 8 extraction of capacitance matrices 9 and lumped element modelling. 10 The fourth major topic concerns application-specific numerical techniques, with contributions to the modelling of synchronous reluctance machines, 11 graded surge arresters, 12 high voltage power cables 13 and DC-AC power converters.…”
