This paper attempts to define a name for an area of science and technology that encompasses the acquisition, processing and application of spatial data in the mining industry. A comparative study of the evolution of spatial data exchange methods between Geographic Information Systems (GISs) and General Mining Planning (GMP) software is carried out to define the problem and name it. Subsequent modifications of the acronym GIS towards the specialisation of its application in mining are then reviewed. This is followed by the identification of three terminological postulates designed to formulate constraints and rules for the creation of a new definition. The subsequent analysis identifies the nomenclatural basis of the research area of geomatics and determines its applicability in the context of mining. The results of the research made it possible to formulate a new definition of “mining geomatics”. The final section of the article presents an initial proposal for an inventory of the basic concepts of mining geomatics in the form of a Body of Knowledge for mining geomatics.

construction of a heuristic architecture of a production line management system in the Jsw sa mining group in the context of output stabilization, quality improvement and the maximization of economic effects introduction the market of mineral raw materials, and in particular of hard coal, has recently become very unpredictable. the situation with the raw materials market is becoming problematic for businessmen who must very flexibly adapt their companies to variable market conditions in order to maintain viability of their mining projects. In the JSW Capital Group (JSW), which is involved in mining hard coal and producing coking coal, profit is generated at the entire Group level, where mines are a significant initial link of the production process, with determined production costs. Two paths of mining cost development exist:pragmatic, consisting of the rationalization of costs at their point of origin (saving actions); mining the deposit according to quality (controlling the allocation of mining).

A powered longwall mining system comprises three basic machines: a shearer, a scraper (longwall) conveyor, and a powered roof support. The powered roof support as a component of a longwall complex has two functions. It protects the working from roof rocks that fall to the area where the machines and people work and transports the machines and devices in the longwall as the mining operation proceeds further into the seam by means of hydraulic actuators that are adequately connected to the powered support. The actuators are controlled by a hydraulic or electro-hydraulic system. The tests and analyses presented in the developed procedure are oriented towards the possibility of introducing automatic control, without the participation of an operator. This is important for the exploitation of seams that are deposited at great depths. The primary objective was to develop a comprehensive methodology for testing and evaluating the possibility of using the system under operating conditions. The conclusions based on the analysis presented are a valuable source of information for the designers in terms of increasing the efficiency of the operation of the system and improving occupational safety. The authors have proposed a procedure for testing and evaluation to introduce an automatic control system into the operating conditions. The procedure combines four areas. Tests and analyses were carried out in order to determine the extent to which the system could be potentially used in the future. The presented solution includes certification and executive documentation.
