Modeling Fault Tolerant Services in Service-Oriented Architecture

Abstract: Nowadays, using of Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) is spreading as a flexible architecture for developing dynamic enterprise systems. In this paper we investigate fault tolerance mechanisms for modeling services in service-oriented architecture. We propose a metamodel (formalized by a type graph) with graph rules for monitoring services and their communications to detect existing faults.

“…This approach also considers only one aspect of the non-functional properties and other aspects are ignored in this proposal. , Rafe and Mahdian (2011) and Mahdian et al (2009) uses the style presented in (Gönczy et al, 2007) to consider different type of non-functional properties. They extend the formal style by adding new elements to the type graph and new graph transformation rules to consider new configurations.…”

“…To verify our models, we have used model checking techniques by considering our previous approach [7,8,9] to translate graph transformation systems to an appropriate input of a model checker called Bogor [10]. Bogor performs the verification and sends the results back to the users [11].…”

“…The services are self-descriptive in this architecture [2,5,6]. Many of the descriptions are kept in component called "service discovery" or "service registry".…”

“…Taking into account the increasing need for high-quality services in service-oriented architecture, it's better to consider the dimensions of service quality in this architecture such as security, availability, and reliability. These dimensions are among the most significant features for developing the fundamental reliable systems [2,5,7]. Quality of service (QoS) means all components which mix to define quality of service suggested by one service.…”
