Conservation agriculture is an approach for managing agricultural ecosystems, improving productivity, increasing benefits and food security, and preserving resources and the environment. The core purpose of this study was to analyze the constructs affecting the intention to use conservation agriculture measures. For this purpose, protection motivation theory was applied as the theoretical framework. Validation of the model was done using a cross-sectional survey among Iranian farmers, and SMART PLS software was used to test the hypotheses. The results showed that the direct effects of the five constructs of perceived severity, perceived vulnerability, response cost, response efficacy, and self-efficacy were significant on the intention to use conservation agriculture measures. In addition, the variables of perceived severity, response cost, and perceived self-efficacy had significant effects on the fear of not using conservation agriculture measures. The results of the bootstrapping analysis indicated that the fear of not using conservation agriculture measures significantly mediated the effects of perceived severity, response cost, and self-efficacy on the intention to use conservation agriculture. The results of the present research help to develop protection motivation theory by defining new relationships between its variables and achieving a deeper understanding of these relationships. The results also can pave the way for social and psychological interventions in the field of adopting the principles of conservation agriculture in agricultural societies. Finally, the results of this research can be used as a decision-making tool and help for users and planners of behavioral changes to better identify the focus points and necessary strategies.

Dealing with a growing population and a shortage of drinking water is a major challenge for politicians and planners. A key factor in ensuring a sustainable water supply is water conservation at the household level, which can increase productivity and save water resources. Therefore, promoting water consumption curtailment behavior will contribute significantly to reducing the global water crisis, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. Water consumption curtailment behaviors depend on individuals’ encouragement to choose and adopt voluntary behaviors and cannot be enforced by any political or planning power. In order to encourage water conservation those social and psychological factors should be considered that influence individuals to participate or adopt water consumption curtailment behaviors. Therefore, the study of factors influencing rural households' water consumption curtailment behaviors is of great importance. This study aimed to describe the socio-psychological factors influencing water consumption curtailment behaviors among rural households in southwestern Iran. The extended theory of planned behavior (ETPB) was used as a theoretical framework in this study along with descriptive norms (DN), moral norms (MN), habits, and justification. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results showed that ETPB can explain 35% and 54% of intention and water consumption curtailment behaviors among rural households in Iran. Our findings may assist policymakers in reducing domestic water consumption.

Drought and desertification have become global environmental problems, posing new obstacles to plant survival and adaptability. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of drought stress on the morphological and physiological traits of Kochia prostrata. (L.) in greenhouse conditions. In the greenhouse experiment, drought stress was conducted in four levels of water regime treatment: 25, 50, 75, and 100 percent field capacity (FC). The experimental design consisted of a completely random design with three replications and 25 seeds per pot for every replication. In the greenhouse, seeds were planted in the soil using plastic containers. Then, 120 days of drought stress were administered, and morphological and physiological parameters were examined. The data were processed, and comparisons of means using the Duncan test (P0.05) were performed. Results demonstrated that when drought stress increased, the morphological and physiological features of K. prostrata decreased significantly. The highest plant dry weight was observed in drought stress of 25% FC and 100% FC with171.45 cm and 282.7 mg, respectively. The lowest rates of photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration, and mesophyll were observed in 25%FC stress treatments with 0.44 mmol m-1s-1, 0.070 mmol m-1s-1, 1.70 mmol-2s-1, 394.13 respectively. Plant length and Root dry weight are variables that decreased significantly with increasing drought stress. However, the decrease in the values of these variables was not significant at 50, 75, and 100%FClevels but was significant at the most severe drought level (25%FC). Based on the results of this study, it can be suggested that the K. prostrata species can be used in the sustainable development of ecological rehabilitation areas.
