Modeling and Simulation of Heat Transfer Phenomena

Abstract: This chapter enlists, describes, explains and elaborates with examples these techniques as applied to problems and practical scenarios of heat transfer. 2. Basic techniques of modeling and simulation Modeling and simulation, like any other field of science and technology has some certain basic techniques using which all practices are carried out. These are the foundation stones on which the building of modeling and simulation practices and procedures is built.

“…To avoid the loss of the heat and for better control over the process, usually such hydrothermal reactors are lined with some insulating layer such as Teflon. The heat transfer process is analyzed via standard transport equations [13] [14]. The main challenges involved during modelling of the hydrothermal operations are lack of material thermal properties at various temperatures and pressures, adiabatic increase or decrease in the temperature due to local pressure variation.…”

“…The process is analyzed via mathematical modelling and verified through simulation using commercial code (SOLIDWORKS®). The heat generation is calculated via Joule heating law and heat transfer process is modelled via standard transport equations [13] [14]. Previous studies have incorporated only single value of the heat transfer coefficient for the heat transfer throughout the process, however in real operation, it is a transient in nature [14].…”

“…Although, in use since ancient Roman times [209], modelling and simulation picked up interest and achieved pinnacle in modern day scientific and engineering sectors with the advent of computer technology which came not more than two decades ago. Now, it has proved itself to be important integral part of prod- Many difficult, or in some cases, impossible to envisage problems can now be simulated using these computing platforms.…”
