“…Oil sludge is hazardous waste discharged during the process of crude oil extraction, transportation, storage and refining. According to [115] , nearly 3 × 10 6 tons of oil sludge is produced per annum in China, the total world production is equal to 160 million metric tonnes per year. In general, oily sludge is composed of 15–50% PHCs, 30%-85% water and 5%-46% solid [7] .…”

“…It is the need of the time to introduce an alternate energy approach to meet current and future energy demands [6]. e replacement of conventional fossil fuels with sewage sludge, coal, and lignocellulosic biomass fuels as renewable energy resources is considered promising as these have already contributed to around 10% of the global energy supply [7][8][9][10][11][12]. Soncini et al stated that from the past thirty years, lignocellulosic biomass was a focal point of research for renewable energy because 56% of energy is provided by biomass, 26% by solar, 11% by wind power, 5% by geothermal energy, and 2% by hydropower [13].…”

“…OS contains a large number of petroleum substances, 5 and organic content is higher compared with biomass and sewage sludge, which is very suitable for gasification. Gao et al 6 simulated the coupling process of pyrolysis and gasification of OS in a rotary kiln and found that the yield of gaseous products CH 4 , C 2 H 4 , C 2 H 6 , CO, and H 2 increased rapidly with the increase of temperature. Martínez et al 7 analyzed the thermal conversion process of OS from the perspective of thermodynamics and established the simulation kinetic model of air/steam mixture with Aspen Hysys software that was used to evaluate the influence of gasification agent on OS gasification parameters.…”
