Modeling and analysis of thermoelectric modules

Abstract: Abstract-The objective of this paper is to develop a SPICEcompatible equivalent circuit of a thermoelectric module. A methodology is developed for extracting the parameters of the proposed model from manufacturers' data of thermoelectric coolers (TECs) and thermoelectric generators (TEGs). The model could be helpful in analyzing the drive requirements of TECs and loading effects of TEGs. The present model is compatible with PSPICE or other electric circuit simulators. An important feature of the model is its a… Show more

“…For the IGBT switching energy and Diode reverse recovery energy calculation, according to the datasheet, the upper side and lower side switches have different values, therefore those parameters are given separately. For the TEC device, by using the same equations in [9], its electrical fundamental parameters can be summarized in Table III, where V max , I max , T h and ΔT max are the values given in the datasheet of UT15,288,F2,5252. …”

“…These models can be divided into three types. The first type uses equivalent circuits to develop the heat transfer model of TEC [9,10] network to build an energy equilibrium model [11,12], where the heat balance equations on the hot side and cold side of TEC are developed. The major advantage of these models is that it can predict TEC performance in a straightforward manner; however, their accuracies are very limited due to its simplifying assumptions.…”
