Modeling a Piezothermoelastic Laminated Plate-Membrane

Abstract: Analysis of laminated piezopolymer actuated circular membranes is presented. The nonlinear equations of motion governing a continuous circular laminate of arbitrary thermal, electrical and mechanical properties are developed. Assuming axisymmetry, a closed-form asymptotic solution is developed using a combination of perturbation techniques. These governing equations are applied to a model laminate of Kapton and PVDF materials where static and dynamic results are discussed.
