Model Predictive Control – Sliding Mode Control of a pH system

Abstract: This paper studies the feasibility of using discrete sliding mode controller (SMC) to achieve offset-free control of nonlinear processes in the presence of disturbances. The performance of the SMC is compared to a multiple model predictive controller (MMPC) studying the ability of set-point tracking using the pH system as a case study.
