Abstract:Sudden cardiac death resulting from ventricular arrhythmia is one of the leading causes of mortality in the United States. The beat-to-beat oscillations in the action potential duration (APD) of paced cardiac cells, defined as cardiac alternans, has been identified as a potential precursor to ventricular arrhythmia. Therefore, the annihilation of these alternans is a promising antiarrhythmic strategy. In this work, the small amplitude of alternans partial differential equation (PDE) for a one dimensional cable… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
