Model of neutrino effective masses

Abstract: It is shown that an effective (nonrenormalizable) coupling of lepton multiplets to scalar triplets in the 331 model with sterile/exotic neutrinos, can be a good way for generating neutrino masses of different types. The method is simple and avoids radiative/loop calculations which, sometimes, are long and complicated. Basing on some astrophysical arguments it is also stated that the scale of SU3 L symmetry breaking is at TeV scale, in agreement with earlier investigations. Or equivalently, starting from this s… Show more

“…[819] for details. The 3-3-1 models [826][827][828][829] are distinct SM gauge extensions which can naturally contain RH neutrinos at keV scale [830][831][832][833]. These models belong to a class of constructions where the SM gauge symmetry SU (2) L × U (1) Y is extended to SU (3) L × U (1) X in such a way that the cancellation of the anomalies involves all three families, offering an explanation for the long standing family number problem [826,[834][835][836].…”

“…There has been a lot of work on model building aspects of keV sterile neutrino dark matter. For example, keV sterile neutrino dark matter has been discussed in gauge extensions of the SM [56,57], models of composite Dirac neutrinos [58,59], 331 models [60,61], models involving Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism [62] and in several other contexts. A review of different models/mass generation mechanisms can be found in [63].…”

“…Most of the known models fall into one of the above categories [57][58][59][60][61][62][63][64][65][66][67], although a notable exception exist in which light Dirac-type sterile neutrinos are motivated as composite states [68,69].…”
