Model Generation for the Verification of Automatically Generated Mechatronic Control Software

Abstract: Abstract-The development of embedded control software for mechatronic systems is mainly a non-automated process, requiring the intervention of a human programmer. A project has been started with the intention to develop a set of prototype tools and a framework with which an interdisciplinary product development team can automatically generate control software for mechatronic systems. This paper will discuss the development of a Control Model Generator as part of this project, which is envisioned to be able to … Show more

“…To support the development of control software and to cope with the multidisciplinary nature of mechatronic systems, an automatic control software generation framework has been proposed previously [14,15]. Depicted in Figure 2, the framework contains a combination of to-be-developed and existing commercial tools, supported by a high-level model description providing both a functional view on the system, as well as an integration platform.…”

“…In the current framework, the analysis data is directly tied to the system components it is related to. For the initial implementation, the Systems Modelling Language (SysML) has been proposed [14]. SysML is an extension of UML, with a focus on systems engineering applications, providing means to model and analyse (non-software) systems [17].…”

“…In the generation of modular classes the mechatronic idea is also applied. With a consistent integration of electrical, mechanical, technological elements in mechatronic modules, all elements can be integrated in one singular module [7] . Due to the autonomy of such a module the number and complexity of interfaces can be minimized.…”

“…In these papers, the other authors focus on the mechatronic design applications of the Architecture Modeling Framework, whereas I focus on the consistency, integration and reuse of design processes, and the definition of the framework itself , 2010, 2009Foeken and Tooren, 2009;Woestenenk et al, 2011Woestenenk et al, , 2010. Other project papers where the author did not contribute Alirezaei and van den Boom, T. J. J. Babuska, 2012;Foeken et al, 2008;, and a dissertation by [Alvarez Cabrera, 2011] complement the practicality of the framework in software control design. Also, to get a response to the validity of the main re- search deliverable, the architecture modeling framework, three workshops were conducted (appendix C).…”
