Model experiments on the coagulation-membrane post-treatment of complex wastewater

Abstract: With the development of technology of purification of toxic oil-containing liquid waste it was shown that the complex compound of the wastewater, its reducing nature (low negative redox-potential) can cause low efficiency of electrolytic coagulation stage and induce coagulation after membrane filtration stage. The possibility of "membrane activation" of the coagulation process was tested with the polystyrene latex model system. In addition, there was shown a lower rate of the electrolytic coagulation with the … Show more

“…At the same time, constantly new studies are carried out to improve existing or develop new methods, materials, technologies. The laboratory scientific researches needed to develop new technologies for treatment of oily wastewatersare problematic for several reasons. They include the toxicity of such effluents, difficulty in providing of variations in their composition in a wide concentration range of the individual components. Therefore, a number of studies should be carried out on model systems [12].…”

“…Many of them are also widely applied in treatment of other types of waters. For example, coagulation and filtration are used in treatment of drinking water [9,10], municipal wastewater [11,14], drainage water [15], separation and flotation are used in treatment of industrial wastewaters polluted with petroproducts [10,16,17].…”
