Model Driven System Engineering for vehicle system utilizing Model Driven Architecture approach and hardware-in-the-loop simulation

Abstract: In this paper, we show how Model Driven System Engineering (MDSE) can be applied in the development of a vehicle system. The drivers for the research have been to increase efficiency, flexibility and reconfigurability of UK vehicle system engineering, for enhanced competitiveness and innovation in face of increasing global competitions. Key contributions of the research include (i) establishment of baseline Model Driven Architecture (MDA) approach at the platform independent level; ( ii) identification of suit… Show more

“…There are also other studies in the literature which use this framework for simulation purposes. Most similar simulation studies in the literature use hardware-in-the-loop simulation for various problems, such as for turbocharged diesel engines [19], 6-DOF parallel-kinematic motion simulator [20], a remote access control laboratory [21] which also uses virtual reality but works as a batch-type experiment, a hybrid power system [22], plasma control system [23], and a vehicle system [24]. .…”

“…Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is a contemporary software development approach that aims to shift from conventional code-centric software design to modelcentric software design (Chong et al, 2011). In Software Engineering, the main idea behind the MDA approach lies in the fact that software can be initially built from an abstract representation, which is successively refined until implementation is reached (Hamous-Lhadj et al, 2009).…”
