Model-based testing with UML applied to a roaming algorithm for Bluetooth devices

Abstract: In late 2001, the Object Management Group issued a Request for Proposal to develop a testing profile for UML 2.0. In June 2003, the work on the UML 2.0 Testing Profile was finally adopted by the OMG. Since March 2004, it has become an official standard of the OMG. The UML 2.0 Testing Profile provides support for UML based model-driven testing. This paper introduces a methodology on how to use the testing profile in order to modify and extend an existing UML design model for test issues. The application of the … Show more

“…But UML is not the appropriate language to address executable tests, because it is hard to define complex structures of test data and the graphical notation is sometimes inconvenient especially in case of a complex test description. The authors of paper [9] showed a methodology of how to use the UML 2.0 Testing Profile on an existing UML design model. The usability of the method was demonstrated by developing a test model for a Bluetooth roaming model.…”

“…In TTCN-3, this cannot be achieved from within the module control part. The UML 2.0 Testing Profile (U2TP)[OMG04b,DGNP04] is a profile for the version 2.0 of the Unified Modeling Language[OMG03a,OMG03b]. It allows the specification of abstract black-box tests using UML diagrams.…”
